Starbelly are Oxford's Glam Punk Glitter-stomping wine spilling three piece. Teeth-shattering guitars and Thundering rhythms swirl round ethereal melody while smearing makeup across your face.

Biography

Whilst playing drums and guitars for all sorts of bands around Oxford,
Jowie was writing music and creating artwork for his own passion project,
a band inspired by the magic of Oxford.

Finding inspiration from anything and everything, from Alice in Chains to Alice in Wonderland, history, faerytale, and a bohemian nightlife,
a sound evolved mixing chainsaw guitars with ethereal beauty, powered by thundering bass and driving tribal drums.

After jamming his songs with various musicians in Oxford, Jowie met wildman, genius, and bass player, Jack, over a mutual love of kaleidoscopes. The two clicked instantly and had soon put together a solid set, and attitude for the band, drenched in wine and covered in glitter.

Jack brought in prolific drummer Sam to complete the trio and the band started gigging with their debut show on Jowie’s birthday in May 2018.
It went down a storm and began a string of gigs all over Oxford, leading to the release of their first single
"Instar" in November 2018.

After Jack left to become a scientist in Paris, the band took a break to find his replacement.
With Alan now on bass, Starbelly returned with their second single "Heroes and Hypocrites"
released in July 2019, and followed it up with a string of gigs and the release of their third single
“Catriona Saw The Sky On Fire”
in September 2019.

2020 the year of the plague, was anything but quiet for Starbelly, with Jowie recording albums and albums full of new music, some of which saw its debut at the bands first Livestream gig with TAD Live in February of 2021, and their first full album is on the way.

Starbelly have now returned to thestage with a glittering and powerful live show to promote the forthcoming album.

"A solid beast of a grunged-up glam band, replete with glitterstomping beats, theyre a pink-haired, black-clad spectacle that crank out a dirty great drum-fuelled gothic dirge that is just a synth line and some operatic female backing vocals away from being the meeting point between Sisters of Mercy and Cradle of Filth."

and then invites people in."
